User Feedback :: I'm very pleased, DSL helped me to save my files

I have had a lot of troubles using my Maxtor USB 2 harddisk and after a failed partition work by Partition magik 8 I couldn't reach my files on the Maxtor disk, not with any Windows or Mandrake and Xandros linux either. So I booted up with DSL and I could imideately mount both partitions on the Maxtor disk and safely transfer the files to my harddisks. I used a computer with usb2-pci card but I only got the usb1 speed. I seems that DSL doesn't support usb2-pci-cards (I have tryed with two differnt ones) for high speed transfers but anyway DSL saved my files. Thank you for that.
If you want to use USB2 speed, do this:

Disconnect your USB device.
Open an xterminal window and type:

sudo su
modprobe ehci-hcd
exit
exit

And then reconnect your USB device.

You can also boot with the DSL "USB boot floppy".  It loads the driver by default.

Wow, even I didn't know this!

Now it won't take a hour to put movies 'n' junk on my ogg (not mp3 :p) player!

Once Again,
we are all simply ' jawdropped ' by the command and prowess

Hmm. Any reason why this module is not loaded by default? Seems that would be a good idea seeing how many USB toting people we have around here now.

I guess maybe it's due to the thought of old machine capatabilities (1.1). Makes sense.

We need to get a photo of CB so we can erect a statue or something!   :p
