Installed it on an really old EEE PC 4G :-) which run DSL already a long long time ago!
had some little Problems...
Start from USB Stick didn´t work first, had to use Save Video Mode.
only english keyboard available in the boot options
The original resolution 800x480 is not available, only 640x480.
Touchpad is very slow, switching to an external mouse works much better
apt-get update says: at least one list file is missing
System takes 3.12 GB Space without anything additional installed
Hope this informations are usefull,
Thanks for the efforts bringing DSL back!
If you use xorg=fbdev instead of xorg=safe, does it give the native resolution? I found that to work on my EeePC 701 SD.

where should i use xorg=fbdev, in the bootoptions when grub has started? or is there a file which i have to edit?
I was talking of the boot screen you have when you boot into the live environment. For an already-installed system, in theory it should work to edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf to read Driver "fbdev" instead of Driver "vesa", but I could not get it to work, possibly due to the required drivers not loading properly. However, installing from a live environment booted with xorg=fbdev appears to create a working installation with everything set up correctly for X to start up using fbdev by default.

i had this same issue as OP on my 701 -
modifying xorg.conf ended up messing up my system which is so slow it was a pain to recover, so i just reinstalled the os entirely. can confurm the `xorg=fbdev` before booting the live disk image worked and propagated to the installed OS.

i've tried to install latest dsl-2024.rc6.iso on my EEE PC 4G with 1GB ram
I choose "Save Video Mode" and normal and safe mode but boot failed with an error similar to
switch_root:can't execute '/usr/bin/env': Input/output error
it is not a problem with installation media since usb stick boots on a lenovo desktop
i did not find an archive of old versions of 2024 releases
the iso you've installed is still avalaible somewhere ?
> Input/output error
Sometimes that is an indication of having a corrupted USB drive. Can you boot the pen drive on another machine without error?
thank you for answering, usb stick boots on a lenovo desktop m90
at last i've installed haiku os on eee pc and sold on ebay
