UEFI enabled boot

You don't necessarily need UEFI for GPT disks. But you will need a small BIOS_GRUB partition ~1MB at the start of the disk. I use GPT by default on both legacy and EFI boot .. this one for example (Manjaro KDE) is in Legacy mode but on GPT. Same with Mint 21.3.

This is assuming that if you set the firmware to boot from legacy first and Windows still boots with those settings. Best to try that first before messing with the partition table.
