Greeting to all of you, my fellow, wonderful Linux enthusiasts and friends: Not to be outdone, I also want to install Damn Small Linux to my old desktop computer (with my hardware specs below) So, 1. I Downloaded dsl-l.5 ISO at an internet café from one of your mirror sites at an HD, then burned it on a CD 2. At another computer, I expanded the ISO (from the CD) on HD using Windows and ExtractNow (the software claiming to expand ISO files, among others) 3. Then burned the expanded files to another CD using NERO 4. Next, I also downloaded bootfloppy.img via internet and created a bootdisk with Rawrite 5. Booted my home desktop computer using floppy (can’t boot from CD-ROM, no BIOS’ capability) 6. Pressed ENTER to begin installation 7. Out came these messages loading linux24 …. Loading minsrt24.gz … Can’t find KNOPPIX filesystem, sorry. Dropping you to a (very limited) shell Please reset button to quit. Additional builtin commands available Cat mount umount, etc. etc. KNOPPIX #_ 8. And it stopped there, and did not continue (as a newbie myself, didn’t know what commands to type next) My Question: How should I rightly be doing installing DSL? I NEED YOUR VALUABLE ADVICE AND HELPFUL RECOMMENDATIONS PLEASE My hardware specs: AMD-K5-PR133 CPU Base memory 640K Extended memory 15360K Cache 256K HD 6449MB, not yet partitioned for Linux Samsung CD-ROM 52X Max
Thanks a lot!
