FAT32 does change capital letters to noncapital ones. I had the same problem (I'm not sure what I wanted to do anymore).

This was the problem I had. The KNOPPIX folder is written with capital letters. When copying it onto FAT32 the letters are not capitals anymore.

Thanks for helping me out.  Yes, tried burned iso cd on another compute. Several icons showed at desktop (e. g. firefox, etc).  Bootfloppy still with me.  Tried it, too.  Both worked.  Will try downloading syslinux.img (?) Will do.  Happy to be receiving your expert opinions and knowledge to us who are just, you know, new to Linux.
