Changing your desktop/s background is very easy in Linux; if you're using a full Linux distribution. SuSE, RedHat, Mandrake, etc. DSL is not a "sissy user" distribution. It is for a particular purpose- working in a constrained environment. It does not have all the bells and whistles a full distribution offers for a reason. DSL is about getting computing functionality in place- pretty pictures may be nice, but add little to the _need_.
