I use DSL-embedded on a MSWindows (WinXP SP1) computer that is hooked up to a DHCP enabled network.  While using other MSWindows programs like Internet Explorer, I can connect to the Internet just fine.

When I start up DSL embedded, I don't need to do anything extra regarding DHCP or netcardconfig.

DSL automatically configures the virtual NIC and it works fine with no further tweaking from scripts or control panel.

I give up... I've put in way too much time and am tired of fussing with it.  It definitely doesn't work in the default config for me.  I'm going to stick with VMWare and maybe give DSL a try another time.  There's a lot more overhead but at least it works.

Thanks for all your attempts to help.

Mike

mikemike,
You don't have ZoneAlarm, or Symantec running? Do you ?
Since windows sees qemu as just another app, they may be getting blocked.

Thanks for your reply, ke4nt.

No, I don't have any firewall apps running as I'm behind a router.  To validate that there is no firewall blocking access, I just reinstalled VMWare hosting Fedora Core 3 and it is able to reach the internet out of the box with no config changes needed.

If any one else has any ideas, I'd love to hear from you.

Cheers,
Mike
