PPS.  Just had a thought - could get screenprinters in various countries to make the shirts, so most people can get "local" shipping rates, then feed say $5 (Aus) to John and co. from each sale.  Hopefully make and sell decent shirts for under $20 Aus ($15 US), otherwise it's pushing the boundaries of how much people would pay for a t-shirt...

Think I was a bit naive when I originally decided to play around with making a DSL tshirt. ???

The cost of making a few shirts with more than one or two colours costs a lot more than I'd realised. I suspect at this stage - the money would be more useful going into the development of DSL rather than on printing costs.

So - I'm going to focus on some downloadable print-it-yourself designs for mini and biz-card cds. This should be an easy (and inexpensive) way to help pass around and promote DSL.

FWIW if you get sufficient numbers to make a batch of tshirts - I'll take one :D

PS. Rob (monkymind), where in Aus are you? (noticed the dodo address).  I'm Brisbane.

Yep! Highgate Hill, Brissy. You?

Cheers

Some 300 DPI copies would really help with scaling, resizing, etc..
Makes for better print than the usual 72 DPI computer screen res ...

The swf's and the original ai files are vector, so you can rescale to your heart's content.  Actually, just checked out the swf's again, if you start zooming in it becomes a lot clearer - the originals were basically designed at around 300dpi size, so the swf's probably don't look right unless you zoom right in...  not sure to what size though, couldn't find details of what the original pixel sizing should be...

G'day Rob, I'm in Kenmore (west of Indro).  If I make up some shirts, will be able to drop some off to ya!  :D   Just drove through Highgate Hill yesterday!

What about something that can be printed on something that can be ironed onto a tshirt? Then, a person just has to go out and get the iron-on stuff.

A few things with the iron-ons:
1.  You can't print white.  So if you wanted white text for your black shirt, you're screwed.  (Only just this second thought of that problem)
2.  In my (limited) experience, the iron-ons don't look very good, and don't last very long - they start cracking up after a few washes.  But this was a few years ago, so maybe they've improved since then.

But there's nothing stopping you from trying!:p

But I guess also part of the point of the shirt is to generate some funds for John and co. (the other parts of course being to increase exposure of the distro, and to proudly proclaim to  the world "it's chic to be geek!" (or something to that effect...))
