Can you manually load it by open a terminal window and type:

sudo su
modprobe axnet_cs
netcardconfig

I can manually load it but have not been able to ifconfig eth0 yet.

More specifically...I load axnet_cs without complaint. Netcardconfig shows "No supported network cards found". If I do ifconfig eth0 192.168.1.9 then I see "SIOCSIFADDR: No such device".

Thanks To Robert my Atheros based wifi card is working great each time I boot up. I'm getting used to jwm and torsmo looks great on that desktop. The icons still are erratic in jwm. Sometimes they only appear as bits of color instead of the full icon. Ted doesn't ever appear in jwm, but does in Fluxbox.
