The myDSL extensions don't have to be installed as super user.

The question was how-to edit the menu.lst to add mydsl=hda5? If bwh1969 wants to know about it, I just tell him the answer.
If he is not using DSL-2.3, he can put all myDSL extensions to /mnt/hda5/optional, and add option: mydsl=hda5 in menu.lst

Actually, I was being a bit dim witted.  I realized that I had to edit the menu.lst from the file that was on the dsl 2.3 partition.  Got it this morning... I was trying to edit the one on the ramdisk.  Your information and replies where helpful in other ways, reminding me of some stuff I forgot about this kind of install.  I have not used linux (knoppix) in quite some time.

I didn't know that in 2.3, it looks for a folder called myDSL.  Had I known that, life would have been much simpler!  But I already fixed the grub menu.lst
Peace
Brian
