When the boot floppy scan looking for the KNOPPIX folder no mather if the KNOPPIX file is wrong or right. Only the filename is important. Of course that afterward, if the KNOPPIX file have problems will not able to load DSL but before you would see the "KNOPPIX file found" message.
Anyway you can check the dsl-x.x.iso file so: - Check if md5summed and the checksums match to know if the ISO file was corrupted during the download process. Getting DSL From the Mirrors
