I HD installed, and quite often, when I turn on the computer, it starts up, and then where it normally show Lilo or Grub, it hangs, and shows a L. Grub did the same thing, except it said Grub. error 18 or error 16.

The only way I can then fix it is to boot from the LIve CD, and remount the hard drive paritions, reboot, and then get back to business.

What's your partition layout? Where do you have Windows, where did you install DSL, do you have anything else on there?

Not sure what the deal is between remounting/rebooting since rebooting unmounts everything again. Sounds like something's conflicting in your MBR/partition table, though. You might have to back it up (just in case), zero it out, and try either LILO or GRUB again.

If you have any questions about doing that, ask before you do anything.
