Look at the MyDSL icon on the desktop.  There will be a button labeled UCI.  Click it and scroll down to Open Office.  There may be two versions on there.  I've been using the one called Openoffice-2.0.uci.  Click on it and read the info.  Click download if you want to try it.  

On DSL version 3.2, I've found that it works great.  I've been using Impress to make presentations for my work.  I've also used the word processor.  I haven't yet gotten the database to do what I want it to do, but that may be a function of my ancient machine not being up to the task.
