I just did an HD install of DSL on an old, dusty pentium 100mhz.
I'm loving it.
The only thing is, setting up my aDSL connection seems to be failing.
The problem, as far as I can tell, is the the pppoeconfig utility doesn't allow me to set the dns server addresses, as I do for my RH boxes.  I run the config util and everything seems fine (accept that it only asks if it should add the dns server address GIVEN BY THE ISP at connect to the /etc/resolv.conf file. Nowhere does it give me the option of giving these addresses to pppoe. I have always had to specifically tell my RH boxes what dns servers to use for my ISP (sbcglobal/snet.net).  When I open Dillo, it can't find anything (dns error, can't resolve www.whatever.com)
Is there a config file I can edit to add the necessary dns server info?  Or am I doing something else wrong?

Thanks.
Any and all assistance is deeply appreciate.
I am rebuilding these old boxes to give away to needy students and really want to have them in bang-up shape.

Maybe this helps...
When I try to run ponn at terminal, I get:
/usr/sbin/ppd : In file /etc/ppp/peer/provider: unrecognized option '/dev/modem/'
That seems significant.
The machine is connected to my Speedstream dsl modem, through which my RH box and iBook also connect directly to the aDSL.

The DNS server info is in /etc/resolv.conf   For hard drive installed systems you can manually edit that file. The format is the following:

nameserver xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
nameserver yyy.yyy.yyy.yyy

Hope that helps.

Thanks.
I'll give that a try.
I'll get back to the forum and post any progress.

Seems I've managed to edit /etc/resolv.conf to reflect what I need, but I still can't connect.  If I run pppoeconfig, the entire config seems to run fine, but when I run pon dsl-provider (as the config indicates), i get a message to the effect that /etc/ppp/peers/dsl-provider doesn't exist (which is the file that the pppoeconfig is supposed to have written/modified).  If I try to just run pon, it indicates troubles with /etc/ppp/peers/provider.
I'm getting frustrated.
I'd write the damned file myself, if I had a clue what to put in it, but I don't.
I suppose that if someone posted theirs, as an example, mine would have to be completely different anyway.
I'm not exactly an expert, either.  I've been using Red Hat at home for two years...hardly qualifies me as a guru...
