Doh! Once the dns servers were set, it should have been fine, but wan't. Not until I realized that I had neglected to delete "username" from the prompt to enter such. When I opened /etc/ppp/ppers/dsl-provider and saw that my username was set to "usernameanthonybaldwin@snet.net" I realized the problem and reran pppoeconfig, deleting "username". It's working fine, now, and downloading Firebird. So: PROBLEM SOLVED! Thanks! DSL rocks!
