UEFI enabled boot

Could we PLEASE have an ISO that is capable of booting on an UEFI computer? I want to run dsl alongside Windows 11 and a variant of Ubuntu but then I have to have GPT disks and UEFI boot..

You don't necessarily need UEFI for GPT disks. But you will need a small BIOS_GRUB partition ~1MB at the start of the disk. I use GPT by default on both legacy and EFI boot .. this one for example (Manjaro KDE) is in Legacy mode but on GPT. Same with Mint 21.3.

This is assuming that if you set the firmware to boot from legacy first and Windows still boots with those settings. Best to try that first before messing with the partition table.

I can confirm that DSL will boot and run from a GPT disk. You'll need to set up your partitions manually, of course.

And I can confirm that when I try to boot from a  dsl usb stick my UEFI does not see it, ie. I cannot boot from it in UEFI mode. Is there a trick to work around this?

Old computers can't boot from a USB drive, which is why John wants to make a CD.

Even if your computer can boot from a USB drive, it may not be set up correctly. Check the BIOS.

I don't currently have plans to support UEFI, but many newer systems have legacy modes so that they may still boot DSL. However, you may be running into the isolinux issue if you are trying to boot USB. There is a workaround for that.

Or you could try booting the low compression lz4 testing iso I made a couple of days ago, it already has isohybrid applied:

Neither will likely work though if you don't have legacy mode capability.
