I did try to simplify the menus in jwm. jwm being a more familiar looking wm than flux.

Yes, you can choose the wallpaper in flux for jwm, just use the wallpaper tool. DSL->Setup->Desktop->Wallpaper. I didn't make it the default as I wanted the jwm choice to be an excellent choice for very low ram machines.

Just to mention conky. Conky is a fork of torsmo which should work even better from what I've heard. Did you try it?

EDIT: I download the rc2, burned it but it doesn't boot.
