Yeah I know your right about liveCD  :)  Its not that bad, it was a fresh install, so I can reinstall in about 10 minutes, just frustrated that everything I try borks in some way.

I got a wireless card that uses the RT61 chipset (Belkin PCI F5D7000 6000au).  After alot of googling it seams this card is giving everyone a lot of grief.  I thought I would just try the latest ndiswrapper to see if they fixed it.  Ironically RaLink actually has a native linux driver for it, but I can't compile it either...

The laptop is fine, DSL and wireless pcmia working great, I'm now trying to get an old desktop going, and using the laptop to download stuff etc., and transfer by usb key.  The laptop is just easier to throw  :p
